The pair have been charged under Yukon's Civil Emergency Measures Act for failure to self-isolate and failure to behave in a manner consistent with their declaration upon arrival.

The announcement Wednesday came as territory health officials announced a new COVID-19 case in Whitehorse.

Yukon's chief medical health officer says two more people in Watson Lake have tested positive for COVID-19.

Dr. Brendan Hanley, chief medical officer of health, says the three people belong to the same "family cluster'' and it's not yet known how they contracted the illness.

The territory said over the weekend that the person had returned from travel to Whitehorse and was in self-isolation.

According to the release, the infected person is from Whitehorse, and received care at the Whitehorse General Hospital emergency department.

The territorial government says in a news release issued Friday that the person is recovering at home and contact tracing efforts are underway.

Yukon's chief medical health officer Dr. Brendan Hanley says in a news release that the resident became infected outside the territory and is now in self-isolation.

Quebec is now reporting nearly 50,000 recoveries, out of a national total of over 96,000 resolved cases.
