Ten Winnipeg library branches will be offering contactless pick-up for holds, as well as return services, beginning Dec. 7.

Sherri Rollins (Fort Rouge - East Fort Garry) said library fees can be a barrier to access that primarily affects young people and low-income households, especially with children.

The Winnipeg Public Library said the expansion of services at all branches across the city will include collection browsing, limited computer use, self-pick-up of holds, and printing and photocopying.

Public libraries in Winnipeg will now accept book returns, and beginning on Aug. 4, will be offering holds for pick-up and telephone services once again.
