A blind English high school teacher from Indiana is one of four finalists nominated for the National Teacher of the Year award for 2015.

A routine day of classes was pierced by the sounds of gunfire, fire alarms and screams when a Purdue University student entered a basement classroom and shot and killed a fellow senior engineering student from Wisconsin.

Police say the man killed in a Purdue University shooting was a senior at the school who was a teaching assistant.
