The FBI is assisting the U.S. military in vetting more than 25,000 National Guard troops being deployed to help protect Joe Biden's inauguration for potential security concerns.

Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said officials are conscious of the potential threat, and he warned commanders to be on the lookout for any problems within their ranks.

While National Guard troops have been stationed inside and outside the seat of Congress since at least Friday, earlier they had not been armed with rifles.
