In one of the corners of New York that city officials consider most vulnerable to climate change, some residents voiced little concern about the Trump administration's plan to begin formally withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.

Experts say the withdrawal by the United States, the second biggest climate polluter and world’s largest economy, will hurt efforts to fight global warming.

The Wall Street Journal had reported that the Trump administration's surprising turnaround came during a Montreal gathering of environment officials from 30 countries.

While converting all coal energy to solar would cost the United States about $1.5 trillion, the Michigan study says the investment would be profitable.
