The death toll was revised down to 48 on Sunday, after rescuers initially said 50 people were killed. The changes came after some body parts were found to belong to one individual.

The crash, Taiwan's worst rail accident in seven decades, occurred after an express train hit a truck that had slid down a bank next to the track from a construction site.

At least four people are believed dead, three people with serious injuries have been sent to hospital and around 20 with light injuries are waiting to go to hospital.
