Members of the public have been waiting in long lines to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II, which at one point on Thursday morning was almost seven kilometres long.

On Wednesday the queen left Buckingham Palace for the last time, borne on a horse-drawn carriage and saluted by cannons and the tolling of Big Ben.
