Monday's protests renewed demands to step up an independent investigation into the deadly break-up of a protest camp in June, which resulted in dozens of causalities among the protesters.

The demonstrations came amid a weeks-long standoff between the ruling military council and protest leaders.

Tibor Nagy said the deadly crackdown "constituted a 180 degree turn in the way events were going with murder, rape, pillaging, by members of the Security Forces."
