The demonstration to mark European Heritage Days gave the hundreds of people a first-hand look at the rustic methods used 800 years ago to build the triangular frames in the nave of Notre Dame de Paris.

Works have restarted in Paris' fire-ravaged Notre Dame cathedral after a hiatus linked to the coronavirus pandemic.

Notre Dame has far to go to recover from a destructive fire but a hardy copper rooster that once topped the spire is serving as a reminder that all wasn't lost.
