In the most recent court filings, Alan Strickland's lawyers said he would have risked Masai Ujiri "potentially committing any number of possibly serious crimes" if the deputy had not employed force.

"I was reminded in that moment that despite all of my hard work and success, there are some people, including those who are supposed to protect us, who will always and only see me as something that is unworthy of respectful engagement."

"I think something incredible was taken away from me and I will never forget it," said Ujiri while visiting Dakar, Senegal this week.

The lawsuit was prompted by a shoving match between the Raptors' president and a northern California sheriff' after the team won the NBA Championship in 2019.

The lawsuit comes after Oakland authorities opted not to press charges against Ujiri, whose team had just won the NBA title.
