Ottawa is being urged to grant permanent residency to a Quebec man who was wrongfully arrested, charged with attempted murder of a police officer and detained for six days.

After holding him in detention for nearly a week, Crown prosecutors dropped all charges against Mamadi Fara Camara — including attempted murder — citing evidence that absolved him.
