The U.S. National Institutes of Health is halting its clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine, saying the malaria drug provides no benefits to those with coronavirus.

A spokesperson with Alberta Health confirmed Tuesday that the "clinical trial has been temporarily suspended by the research team so they can review the literature and results from other studies."

The study seeks to determine whether chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine could play a role in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
