Nearly one year after the Fort McMurray wildfire, there are feelings of hope and uncertainty from residents forced to flee the northern Alberta community.

An Alberta firefighter has lost his battle with cancer after a last-ditch attempt to save his life through an experimental treatment failed.

With his voice raspy from days of breathing in smoke, firefighter Mark Stephenson recalled how one week ago he helplessly watched his own house burn. He then stuffed away his emotions and went back to work.
