Democrats may consider refusing to vote on a new FBI director until a special prosecutor is named to investigate President Donald Trump.

The FBI's new acting director Andrew McCabe assured senators Thursday he will alert them to any effort to interfere with the investigation into Russia's election meddling and possible ties to Trump.

"In times of turbulence, the American people should see the FBI as a rock of competence, honesty, and independence."
