New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has voted in the nation’s general election, two weeks before polls officially close.

The opposition party has said they would like the election delayed in the hope that Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern loses some of her lustre once hardships caused by an extended lockdown begin to bite.

Ardern said she was suspending the dissolution of parliament, which was due to make way for an election scheduled to take place on Sept. 19, until Monday.
