Manitoba Hydro says a downed power line left 6,000 customers without electricity late Saturday morning.

Tree topples over, lands on power line; approximately 1,000 customers wake up with no electricity on Wednesday morning.

“It’s just mind-boggling, the stupidity of people sometimes,” Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth said, when told of the scenario.

"If the only thing you understand is a hefty fine then maybe that's what is going to be put in place."

Police in Revelstoke, B.C., are searching for a semi-trailer truck that allegedly brought down a power line across Highway 1 on Tuesday.
