Dozens of people gathered in parks and parking lots on the shores of the LaHave River on Wednesday to watch the Cormorant leave its home in Bridgewater, N.S.

A hunting season for the double-crested cormorant will run annually from Sept. 15 to Dec. 31 in Ontario.

RCMP say a man wanted for manslaughter in connection with a fatal hit and run has been caught.

The next step will be to stabilize the vessel and remove bilge water and oil to assist in the righting of the ship, beginning in January.
