Thousands of Blood Tribe members came out to vote for a chief and council on Thursday and long lines of people could be seen throughout the day.

In a recent statement addressing systemic racism faced by Blood Tribe members at the hands of police, Kainai Chief Roy Fox discusses these relations, which came to a head in the late 1980s.

Following a historic election on the Blood reserve earlier this week, the Blood Tribe's newly elected chief and council were officially sworn in Friday.
