The Department of Justice put its social media plans around a new impaired driving law on hold following sharp backlash to the tweet, records show.

The federal government is facing growing pressure over impaired driving rules brought into effect December 2018. 

Tucked inside the Cannabis Act framework were changes to impaired driving laws that would allow police officers to demand breath samples from any driver without first requiring a reasonable suspicion that they're under the influence.
