BlackBerry Ltd.'s share price jumped after the former smartphone company beat analyst estimates for profit and revenue in the fourth-quarter and announced an upbeat outlook for the coming year.

The Waterloo, Ont.-based company, which reports in U.S. currency, says the latest quarterly loss amounted to 22 cents per basic share before adjustments.

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB) says it had a US$148 million net loss, or 28 cents per share on US$793 million of revenue for the quarter ended Nov. 30.
