Essentially, the cattle will be used as lawn mowers, grazing in grassland areas next to residential homes, eating potential wildfire fuel.

The targeted grazing program would help manage cured grass, fallen leaves and other natural fire fuels.

“We need to be effective with our use of the resource.” Lee Hesketh is talking about water. “Water is key,” said Hesketh, a rancher with the B.C. Cattlemen’s Association. As a second generation rancher, Hesketh understands big agriculture’s big thirst for water. “Agriculture takes a big percentage the of water out of the system,” he said....

A meat tax is a proposal we need to keep an eye on. If it happens in Denmark or Sweden, it’s only a matter of time before it spreads elsewhere.
