A coroner's jury looking into the death of 26-year-old Angus Mitchell has released seven recommendations, including that the B.C. Health Ministry consider allowing people to force a mentally ill family member to undergo a psychiatric assessment.

A psychiatrist who released Angus Mitchell from a Victoria hospital after he was arrested for walking into a doctor's clinic with a rifle has told a coroner's inquest that he did so because Mitchell's explanation for his behaviour was plausible.

26-year-old Angus Mitchell was fatally shot by police in May, 2012, in Maple Ridge.
