Global Toronto & the Toronto Fire Fighters want to thank you for coming out and supporting the Toy Drive at this year’s Toy Drive Live! Thousands of people came out for the event at the Shops at Don Mills and donated a toy to the toy drive.
Leslie Roberts anchored the newscast live from the square with Susan Hay and Meteorologist Anthony Farnell did his weather from the square.
In total, the Toronto Fire Fighters collected 2,500 toys, approximately $3,500 in monetary donations at the event and online, and received a $10,000 cheque from the Shops at Don Mills!
Included in the donated toys, was 1,000 Shaw bears donated by Shaw.
The festive fun included the official tree lighting ceremony, carolers, an interactive dance show for kids and a chance to meet & mingle with Santa and his reindeer! We also had activity booths for the kids where they could try on fire fighter bunker gear and take part in a colouring contest! All in support of the Toronto Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive.
A special thank you goes out to the Crestwood School Choir – they did a wonderful job singing throughout the night!
It’s not too late to donate – you can still drop off a toy at a local fire hall throughout the holidays or you can donate online (see below).
