Dreams Take Flight Halifax Virtual 5K

Lace up your sneakers and adjust your Mickey ears, this event is going to be a lot of fun!  Anyone can participate in this event. You pick the date, time and location and walk or run 5KM at your own pace (please practice social distancing and follow the recommendations set by your government.)

Dreams Take Flight Halifax takes children on the trip of a lifetime.  Over 140 Maritime children fly to Orlando to spend a magical day in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.  Dreams Take Flight is a 100% volunteer run organization, which means that all funds raised go directly to the children they help.

Our Community Partners

Phoenix is a non-profit, community based organization located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Since 1987, Phoenix has been dedicated to supporting youth between the ages of 11 and 24, their families, and communities across multiple locations in Halifax.


Feed Nova Scotia distributes almost 2 million kilograms of donated food to their member network of 145 food banks and meal programs across the province. They also support members as they build capacity to serve their communities, and help raise awareness of the challenges hunger and poverty create each day for thousands of Nova Scotians.


The Halifax Black Film Festival (HBFF) is dedicated to giving unique voices in cinema the opportunity to present audiences with new ways of looking at the world. HBFF is a dynamic, refreshing and audacious Festival whose ambition is to encourage the development of the independent film industry and to promote more films on the reality of Black people from around the Globe.


March of Dimes Canada provides a wide range of services to people with physical disabilities throughout the country. Their mission is to maximize the independence, personal empowerment, and community participation of people with physical disabilities.


No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation is among the leading agencies dedicated to honouring and remembering Canada’s veterans. Their unique ceremony provides students and youth with an authentic experience that creates knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of those who serve and of the sacrifice of Canada’s fallen.


The Progress Women of Excellence Awards is an annual fundraiser for Phoenix Youth and is the only one of its kind in Atlantic Canada. It honors outstanding women at the pinnacle of their professions who play an important role in our community.


The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.


The NSLC Adopt A Stream Program provides funding and technical support to help community volunteer organizations undertake projects to protect, repair and improve the aquatic and riparian habitats of local wetlands, lakes, streams, rivers and estuaries in Nova Scotia.
