REGINA – The city of Regina is moving forward with increased parking fines.

A $10 jump means the penalty for parking at an expired meter will now cost you $55.

Fines for illegally parking near fire hydrants or in handicap zones will also double to $100 and $200 respectively.

The city also began mailing letters to the worst parking offenders in October and plans to move ahead on enforcement this week.

The most one person owes in parking fines is roughly $30,000.
