Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2008 killing of Mission couple

A man involved in the 2008 murder of a Mission couple pled guilty to manslaughter in supreme court earlier today.

Initially charged with two count of first degree murder, Justin MacKinnon has pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter and was sentenced to seven years, minus time served.

MacKinnon and three other were accused of shooting and killing Lisa Dudley and Guthrie McKay in their Mission residence on September 18, 2008. McKay died immediately from his wounds but Dudley survived and was paralyzed for four more days until a neighbour found her. She died en route to the hospital.

Following an extensive and complex investigation by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, four men were charge and three have since been convicted – Jack Woodruff, pled guilty two counts of first degree murder in March 2012; Bruce Main, pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter in July 2013; MacKinnon pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter today and Tom Holden has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and is awaiting trial.
