Peel Regional Police said officers were called to the end of Oakwood Avenue, near Hurontario Street and Lakeshore Road, just before 8:30 p.m.

Investigators said two people had been shot and warned of a heavy police presence in the area.

In a later update, police said a man was pronounced dead and was pulled from the water. They also said a woman was taken to hospital but is in stable, non-life-threatening condition.

Police said there is no threat to public safety as they believe this is an isolated incident.
