Port Moody residents concerned over raised Evergreen SkyTrain track

Port Moody residents gathered Wednesday night at the Evergreen Line Project Office in Coquitlam to express their concerns about an elevated portion of the new SkyTrain line.

In a notice provided to residents of Klahanie Drive, it says concerned residents recently learned that “contrary to all previous communications from EGL [Evergreen Line], the EGL will now be elevated between the pedestrian overpass and Moray St.”

The notice says that announcement is “contrary to the ‘at-grade’ plan originally communicated by EGL.”

Residents are concerned the raised SkyTrain would mean no privacy at the pool complex, increased noise and train traffic.

The City of Port Moody has provided information to residents about the matter, but stresses the project is not a city endeavour.

They say “the line was always going to be elevated at Klahanie as there would be no other way to have Skytrain go across the existing CP Rail tracks.”
