’30 Rock’ actor comes out as gay

TORONTO — Maulik Pancholy, who played the slightly obsessed assistant to Alec Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock for seven seasons, has publicly come out as gay.

The 39-year-old actor, who is also familiar as Sanjay on Weeds and Neal on the short-lived sitcom Whitney, revealed in the new issue of OUT that he and his partner recently celebrated their nine-year anniversary.

“It feels like a nice time to be celebrating something like that,” he said, “especially on the heels of the DOMA and Prop 8 decision.”

With 30 Rock off the air, Pancholy is keeping busy with voice work. He plays Sanjay in the animated series Sanjay and Craig and Baljeet in Phineas and Ferb. He is also making the TV movie HR with Alicia Silverstone and Peter Fonda.
