Woman, 69, dies after hit-and-run on Toronto’s Bloor Street: police

A senior has died after a driver struck her and fled the scene in Toronto on Sunday morning, police say.

Toronto police said a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the area of Bloor Street and Aberfoyle Crescent around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Firefighters, police and paramedics all attended the scene.

A 69-year-old woman was walking in the area when a Toyota Prius heading eastbound along Bloor Street “came in contact with the woman.”

Police said that the driver fled the scene, while the woman was taken to hospital unconscious but breathing.

Toronto paramedics told Global News the woman was in life-threatening condition. Police said she later died of her injuries.

“The Toyota Prius sustained passenger side damage, along with a missing passenger side mirror,” police said of the car alleged to have fled the scene.
