Police investigate series of dine and dash incidents

CALGARY- Calgary Police are keeping an eye out for a dine and dash suspect with a penchant for fine food.

The owners of three high end restaurants say they believe the same man may be behind a string of incidents over the past two days in which someone walked out on their food bill.

The owners of Muse in Kensington say a well-dressed suspect recently came in for a meal on his own, ordering an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert.

They say before his dessert arrived, he went to the washroom and never came back, leaving behind a wallet.

“(The server) went back to the table to look at the wallet, opened it up, and realized it was a brand new wallet,” says Heather Wighton, co-owner of Muse. “It still had the tag inside of it. Every pocket had two pieces of magazine clippings in it so right away, the server knew that we had been scammed.”

The suspect’s face was captured on a security camera. When the owners of Muse tweeted the photo out, two other restaurants- Blink and Teatro- responded, saying the same person had walked out on their bill at their eateries as well.

Police are currently investigating the incident at Muse.
