TORONTO – After numerous reports to the contrary, the mayor’s office has confirmed Rob Ford will participate in Sunday’s Santa Claus Parade, despite the ongoing crack cocaine scandal.

According to one of Ford’s staffers, the mayor said “I’d like to be in the parade, order the candy canes.”

Last year, Ford walked the entire parade route handing out candy canes to children all along the way.

In his first public appearance since he admitted smoking crack cocaine, the mayor received some boos yesterday during a Remembrance Day ceremony at Old City Hall.

A Second World War veteran even refused to shake Ford’s hand and said he shouldn’t have been there.

“I didn’t shake his hand because he’s a drug addict, a druggie,” Tony Smith said. “He’s No. 1 man in the city and he’s smoking up and boozing it up. I don’t mind people having a drink. I certainly don’t agree with drugs.”

Ford has repeatedly denied he is an addict.

What do you think: Should Mayor Rob Ford hand out candy to children just a couple weeks after admitting he has smoked crack cocaine?
