ABOVE: After a miserable week for Mayor Rob Ford, now he, his brother and the radio broadcaster have cut ties. Sean O’Shea reports.
TORONTO – You are no longer listening to The City with Mayor Rob Ford and Councillor Doug Ford.
The radio station is cutting ties with the mayor and his brother, ending the weekly radio show as of now. Sunday’s radio show during which the mayor admitted to being “hammered” on the Danforth and apologized for “a lot of stupid things” will be the last edition of The City with the mayor and his brother.

The station announced the cancellation of the show days after the mayor admitted to smoking crack cocaine.
“NewsTalk 1010, Mayor Ford and Councillor Ford have mutually determined to conclude broadcasts of The City, ending with last week’s show. Of course, Mayor Ford and Councillor Ford remain welcome at any time as guests on NewsTalk 1010,” Mike Bendixen, the program director for Newstalk 1010 wrote in an email to Global News.
In the past, the brothers had used the show as a platform to take calls and air their views, which in many cases included reprimanding the media; last May, Rob Ford called reporters “maggots.” He apologized for the comment soon afterwards.
