The scandal swirling around Senator Mike Duffy, Nigel Wright and Prime Minister Stephen Harper hasn’t just marked a new low for the Senate, it has also cast a long shadow on the prime minister and his government.
The Conservative party convention in Calgary this weekend was supposed to take attention away from the ongoing Senate scandal. But with the vote to suspend the three senators at the heart of the matter still unresolved, the dark cloud of the scandal instead hung over the entire event.
