REGINA – Nurses in Saskatchewan have a new way of obtaining a masters of nursing degree.
The University of Regina and Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology signed a memorandum of agreement to offer the Collaborative Nurse Practitioner Program.
Delivered online, the program can be completed in two years with full-time enrolment or in four years part time.
Rob Norris, minister responsible for Advanced Education, says the program allows nurses in rural areas to continue providing health care while furthering their academic and professional careers.
This is the first joint masters program between the two institutions.
Graduates of the program are eligible to write the national nurse practitioner exam and seek registration as a registered nurse practitioner.
