EDMONTON- A substation serving northeast Edmonton went down around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, leaving a large area, including Rexall Place, in the dark for just over an hour.

Tim LeRiche with Epcor says about 20,000 customers were impacted by the outage. The power was out between 19th and 80th Streets, and 109th and 163rd Avenue, according to Epcor.

The power was out at the LRT stations from Clareview to Coliseum, but the trains were still running.

The outage came as a shock to hundreds of Edmonton Oil Kings fans at Rexall Place. The power went out about one and a half minutes into the Oil Kings game, as the team was hosting the Prince Albert Raiders.
