North Battleford Mounties deal with six drunk drivers in 24 hour period

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – It was a busy weekend for Mounties in North Battleford after six people were charged with drunk driving in a 24 hour period.

It began Saturday at 7:30 a.m. after police received reports of an impaired driver.

A 29-year-old woman from Loon Lake was arrested in the area of 100th Street and charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and impaired care and control over 80 mg.

Ninety minutes later, police responded to a second call for a drunk driver.

This time, police nabbed a 22-year-old Lloydminister man on Railway Avenue East.

Along with impaired driving charges, he is also facing a drug possession charge.

Then just after 1:30 p.m., Mounties responded to their third call for an impaired driver, this time on 17th Avenue where a 55-year-old Battleford man was arrested for drunk driving.

Police then nabbed a 38-year-old North Battleford man at a check stop on Highway 16 at 1:30 a.m.

The final two arrests happened at a check stop on Batteford Road. A 25-year-old North Battleford woman and a 21-year-old Cut Knife man have both been charged with two counts of impaired driving.

All six have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court at later dates.
