Cessna plane crashes at Kelowna Airport

One person has been injured after a Cessna plane crashed into Mill Creek at the south end of the Kelowna Airport Friday.

Just before noon, a student pilot was conducting touch and go landings when the aircraft veered off the runway and ended up in Mill Creek, officials say.

The pilot sustained minor injuries and was treated by emergency crews. There were no passengers on board.

The runway remains open and commercial flights are not affected.

A Hazmat team has been called out due to fuel leaking into the creek.

It is not known at this time how the incident happened.
