Repairs nearly complete at Sunshine Village, following flood

CALGARY- Just in time for the first snow fall, Sunshine Village has completed work on some of the damage caused by the June flood.

The waters destroyed the access road leading from the Trans-Canada Highway up to the resort’s base, and also wiped out several sections of the road leading into the village.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

However, the most damage occurred in the base parking lot.

“Right now, we’ve got to continue to put in the storm water management system, we’ve got to pub utilities in the parking lot, propane, power, fiber,” explains Dave Riley, COO of Sunshine Village. “We’ve got to put in a couple of buildings that got washed away, but you know, it’s all coming together really well.”

Work has also been done to re-channel the Healey Creek, which became a raging river during the flood.

Repairs have cost the resort up to $5 million.
