Smoke fills sky south of Saskatoon

SASKATOON – Smoke continued to fill the sky south of Saskatoon on Tuesday afternoon.

The smoke appears in two different spots west of Friesen Road near Dundurn, Sask.

According to Environment Canada, the air quality health index (AQHI) has been at 3 since 9 a.m. in the Bridge City. An AGHI of 1 to 3 is a low risk.

Meteorologist Peter Quinlan says the overall air quality is much better than Monday because the wind is now out of the -northwest, while yesterday it was straight out of the south.

There is a very dry air mass right now in the Saskatoon area and fires can spread at upwards of 26 metres per minute at these conditions.
