Man kills 2 police officers, rescue vehicle driver in Austrian shooting

VIENNA, Austria – Police say a man shot and killed two police officers and the driver of an emergency rescue vehicle in central Austria before barricading himself inside a farm building.

The dpa news agency reported Tuesday that a police SWAT team was on the scene after the overnight attack in Annaberg, about 115 kilometres (70 miles) southwest of Vienna.

Police say they don’t yet know the name of the shooter nor what prompted the attack. It’s also not known whether he is holding any hostages.
