Homeless man turns in backpack full of money

TORONTO – What would you do if you found a bag on the street, stuffed full of cash?

On Saturday, police officers were flagged down by a homeless man who found a backpack full of money, travelers cheques and a passport in a Boston shopping centre.

The bag contained $2,400 in cash, $39,500 in travelers cheques, passports and personal papers.

Police said the only details the Good Samaritan provided were his name and the address of the homeless shelter he was living in.

Officers informed the South Ball Mall security about the missing bag. Later that evening, they were contacted by an individual who had reported the bag lost.

After positively identifying he was indeed the backpack’s owner, the police returned the bag, cash and all.
