Visitation today for Toronto high school teen killed by truck

TORONTO – Friends and family will gather to remember a young girl struck and killed on the first day of school.

A visitation will be held for Violet Liang this evening in Richmond Hill.

Liang was one day shy of her 15th birthday when she was hit by a truck while walking to school.

She was on a pedestrian crosswalk at Sentinal and Lamberton Boulevard when she was hit.

Her death has renewed calls for truck bans in and around school zones during certain times of the day.
