Kelowna murder trial set to begin

KELOWNA — The jury was being selected Monday for a Kelowna murder trial and today, the panel should begin hearing evidence regarding a woman’s death in April 2010.

That’s when Brittney Lee Irving, 24, disappeared after leaving a Kelowna motel room to allegedly sell a large amount of marijuana.

About six weeks later, police found Irving’s body. Not long after that, Joey Verma, 29, of Kelowna was arrested and charged with first degree murder.

RCMP have not disclosed how Irving died or where her body was found.

The trial is scheduled to last about seven weeks.
