RCMP investigate disturbing spread of messages over social media

NORTH BATTLEFORD – After receiving reports from members of the public about text messages and Facebook posts containing information about possible gang initiations, Battlefords RCMP have launched an investigation into the matter.

Some of the messages include mentions of firearms and targets members of the community.

Police are advising the public to report any suspicious activity they observe to the Battlefords detachment.

RCMP said they are taking all necessary precautions in the event that there is any validity to the messages and posts.

They said the messages should not, in any way, inhibit the public from carrying on with their normal daily activities.
