Still no sign of injured dog’s owner

KELOWNA — There’s still no sign of the owner of a severely injured dog picked up in Kelowna Thursday.

The white poodle mix received emergency medical treatment after he was found bleeding in the backyard of a home on Hein Road in the Rutland area. He’s in stable condition but still looking a bit rough.

The dog did not have a license but did have a white flea collar and a black nylon collar.  He still requires further surgery for a bone fracture at the front of his skull.

The Regional District says it along with the SPCA has received  many calls from people wishing to donate money to cover the dog’s surgery, but the owner of the dog has yet to come forward.

The owner now has 72 hours to come forward otherwise the district assumes ownership of the dog.  In that case, the animal would likely be handed over to the SPCA for adoption.
