TORONTO — Singer Janelle Monáe is heading to Canada in October to showcase her Sept. 10 release The Electric Lady.

The 27-year-old R&B star, who rocketed to fame with the hit single “Tightrope” in 2010, will play Montreal’s Olympia Theatre on Oct. 18 and Toronto’s Kool Haus the following night.

Monáe performed at the Toronto Jazz Festival in June 2012.

Monáe gave fans another taste of the new album on Monday by posting “Primetime” — featuring Miguel — on her official website.

On The Electric Lady, Monáe collaborates with artists like Esperanza Spalding, Solange and Prince.

The Kansas native appears in an ubiquitous Cover Girl commercial and on the cover of the new VIBE magazine alongside singer Robin Thicke.
