One dead, another injured in crash near Royal York and Lawrence

TORONTO – One person is dead and another has been seriously injured after a crash in Toronto Monday morning.

Police say a taxi cab, a pick-up truck and a SUV collided at the intersection of Royal York Road and Lawrence Avenue West just past 8 a.m.

The cab driver fled on foot and was arrested a short time later.

A man believe to be in his 60s was rushed to hospital in life threatening condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

A 39-year-old female was also taken to hospital with critical injuries.

The intersection was closed for several hours during the police investigation.
