SASKATOON – The Saskatoon SPCA has announced that all its sheltered cats found a new home during its recent adoption drive.

Families lined up outside the animal shelter on Sunday and took home 73 cats. Nearly 100 vouchers were given out to those unable to adopt.

“I haven’t seen anything like this in my six years working for The Saskatoon SPCA,” says Tricia McAuley, fundraising and donor relations coordinator.

The shelter thanked generous donors which allowed a one day special where the near $200 adoption fee was dropped to just $10.

At the beginning of August, the shelter reached capacity with 150 felines and placed a temporary hold on owner-surrendered cats.

With space constraints no longer a concern the SPCA can once again accept owner-surrendered cats, although pet owners are encouraged to seek other alternatives.

Shelter staff are asking residents to continue opening their homes and hearts to adoptees.

“With the wonderful cats available at the Saskatoon SPCA now and in the future, we are certain that everyone will be able to find their perfect fit,” says McAuley.
