Warning issued after Kelowna teens fall ill from ecstasy

Ecstasy pills. Global News

KELOWNA — Three Kelowna teens between the ages of 15 and 18 are recovering after taking what they believed were ecstasy pills.

They consumed the pills yesterday and immediately started to feel ill.

“The teens were struck with stabbing abdominal pains, chronic vomiting and itching,” says Constable Kris Clark.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Kelowna RCMP believe the youths purchased the pills that were marketed as the club drug in downtown Kelowna.

Officers got a call this morning about the youths, but have since learned that others have had similar experiences recently.

Police want to remind the public that the synthetic drug is made in clandestine labs that have no quality controls.

“You can never really know exactly what is in street drugs, and something that is being sold under one name could be something else entirely,” warns Constable Clark, “Drug dealers are only in it for the profit and don’t care about the health or well-being of their clients.”
